Initiatives
The CHIP Access to Care Action Team is working toward the goal of increasing and improving ways to access affordable healthcare and transportation services among rural and underserved residents. Their current initiatives are:
- Maintaining Where is Care in Kershaw County?, online directory of nearly 200 clinical and social services providers designed for use by consumers, healthcare providers and local policymakers. This can be found at whereiscarekc.org.
- Partnering with Santee-Lynches Regional Council of Governments, Santee-Wateree Regional Transportation Authority and Kershaw County public and private agencies and organizations to advocate for and develop a transit system for our county.
Transportation
Our Access to Care team continues to work diligently to address the transportation needs of Kershaw County residents by aiming to establish a long-term transit system. The proposed route for the emergency funding for a short-term fully funded in Kershaw County has been submitted. The route located to the right is a modified version of two previously proposed routes running from Elgin through Lugoff and out to East Camden in order to provide transit in our community that includes access to grocery stores and medical facilities during the impact of COVID-19. As we move forward, we will continue to talk about transit with the community. Additional details and timeline are limited at this time but we will continue to update as we can.
